Hunting

Lake Oconee has many small and large game available to hunt. We strongly recommend you check with the local Department of Natural Resources to ensure that you are properly certified to hunt in these areas and that you are in season.

Lake Oconee is a large power reservoir operated by Ga. Power. Oconee WMA contains a series of managed waterfowl impoundments located immediately below the dam.  The managed impoundments are hunted on a quota system.  Both areas can provide good duck hunting opportunity for wood ducks, mallards, ring-necked ducks, and teal.  Canada geese are heavily hunted on the lake.  Call the GADNR at 706-595-4222 for more information.
